How to invoke
Section titled “How to invoke”/t1k:marketing:iap:starter-pack-designStarter Pack Design
Section titled “Starter Pack Design”This skill guides design of first-time-payer (FTP) starter packs — the single most effective instrument for converting new players into paying users. It covers trigger gate selection (when to show the pack), offer composition (what to include), pricing (targeting $1.99–$4.99 for casual, up to $9.99 for mid-core), and first-purchase gating (ensuring repeat buyers cannot access the discounted offer). Monetization PMs and live-ops designers use this skill at launch and whenever the FTP conversion rate drops below genre benchmarks. It does NOT cover ongoing retention offers or upsell ladders for existing payers.
When to Use
Section titled “When to Use”- DAU is growing but paying user ratio (PUR) is below genre baseline (casual < 2%, mid-core < 5%)
- You are launching a new title and need to design the initial FTP offer
- A/B test results show the current entry IAP SKU has low CVR vs. benchmark
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Starter packs convert new players into payers by offering 3–5× perceived value at a discounted price, available only once. The trigger gate (e.g., reaching level 5, completing the tutorial, first resource depletion event) determines which players see the offer; the composition determines whether they buy. Industry benchmarks show well-designed starter packs convert 2–4× higher than the equivalent currency-only SKU at the same price point.
Status
Section titled “Status”Stub — deepen iteratively via /t1k:sync-back as real usage surfaces priority. Priority sources for when deepening: Sensor Tower First-Purchase Analysis, Mobile Dev Memo starter-pack teardowns.
